GRAZ 2008
Juryprotokoll 2008, Prize Winning Films 2008, List of winners
This was the 20th anniversary of the Graz Mountain Film Festival, which happened to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the first ascent of Everest without oxygen, and both Reinold Messner and Peter Habeler present at the festival celebrations. It was also 30 years since festival organiser Robert Schauer first climbed Everest.
My background at Graz..
I have a fairly good track record at Graz, this is my fourth 'Camera Alpine in Gold' trophy, ( Stone Monkey in 1988. Waterfall Kayak a year later, and then 'From Nowhere to the Middle of Nowhere' - won the Grand Prix in 1999, - and now another category prize for Dringo i'r Eitha' plus an Honourable Mention for UpsideDown Wales.

Alun reports, " on hearing the 'honourable mention' award announcement through my translation headphones I must say I was disappointed and thought 'damn it ! there goes another one, I've missed the main prize,,' but then after receiving the framed certificate on stage and shaken hands with Robert Schauer and the judges, as I made my way back down to my seat in the middle of the theatre I was just about to sit down again when I caught my name being mentioned from the stage in the middle of all the german that I could not understand, and my friends sat next to me said ' don't sit down get back up there!!' I could not believe it, so I ran back down the isles to receive another 'Alpine Camera in Gold'".
